Vogue Pumice Stone from the Antilles volcano

Uncle Sam’s Natural Pumice Stone comes from the burning liquid rock of the Antilles volcanoes of the early 20th century. During an explosive eruption, the molten rock (about 5/600°C) is projected into the atmosphere, where it fragments and undergoes a sudden drop in pressure; the gases present escape in multiple bubbles creating thin partitions in each piece of cooled lava. The resulting volcanic stone is porous, abrasive, light (density of 900Kg/m3, i.e. less than water). Under the effect of sea water and currents, it breaks up, erodes, and becomes rounded, like driftwood, before the sea throws it back onto the shore. Of rather clear tint, going from whites to yellows while passing by browns or greys, our raw pumice stone, shaped by the natural elements, offers itself on the beaches.
